About Us
The Land Trust for the Little Tennessee has conserved more than 32 miles of river frontage downstream of Franklin, making this the most dynamic river corridor conservation project in the southern Blue Ridge. LTLT has conserved nearly 3,000 acres of mountain forestland and dozens of miles of national forest boundary. LTLT recently led a series of historic preservation efforts in the Cowee community in northern Macon County. Collaborative work with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to conserve the Cowee Mound and surrounding lands was one of the most significant historic preservation initiatives ever achieved by a North Carolina land trust.
