CTNC's executive director, Reid Wilson, was invited in April to attend the White House Conference on America’s Great Outdoors. He was present when President Obama established the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative to develop a conservation and recreation agenda worthy of the 21st century and to reconnect Americans with our great outdoors.
The president ordered 10 federal agencies to hold listening sessions around the country and report to him in November on successful or promising ideas from non-federal groups; ways the federal government could work with those programs; and strategies, activities and an action plan to meet the initiative's goals.
