North Carolina Coastal Land Trust
Enrich the coastal communities of our state through acquisition of open spaces and natural areas, conservation education, and the promotion of good land stewardship. We are active throughout the coastal plain of North Carolina; its beaches, river corridors and marshes, its sandhills and savannas, its public parks and greenways. We aspire to bring together citizens and landowners, natives and newcomers, to set aside lands for conservation.

Within the coastal plain of North Carolina, small cities, towns and rural communities still lie among a wide variety of natural forested habitats, wetlands, and waterways. This natural variety makes the Coastal Plain one of the most ecologically diverse regions in North Carolina and also one of the most attractive to new residents, second home buyers, and vacationers. The North Carolina Coastal Land Trust, established in 1992, has ensured the permanent protection of approximately 30,000 acres of coastal habitat. These protected lands include barrier beaches, river corridors, farms, forests and marshes, sandhills and savannas, and public parks and greenways. With offices in Wilmington, New Bern and the Outer Banks, the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust is among the most effective land trusts in the country. Its mission is to enrich the coastal communities of our state through acquisition of open spaces and natural areas, conservation education, and the promotion of good land stewardship.
