For Landowners
The Conservation Trust and its land trust partners across the state have made impressive progress by working with individual landowners, corporations, community groups, and government officials. Now, more than 990 projects and 184,000 acres comprise a solid record of accomplishment. Find Your Local Land Trust
Land trusts aggressively pursue their missions but are still literally losing ground. They simply cannot keep up with the pace at which our state’s land resources are being diminished. For example, NC has lost more acreage to urban development in recent decades than any other, except Texas. Because only 9% of the state's land is permanently protected, the decisions that private landowners make in the coming years will have a profound effect on our state's natural character. Land trusts are eager to work with willing landowners to conserve their land and provide financial benefits from conservation. Land trusts need your assistance to save the natural beauty and rural economies of North Carolina.
“I believe that the Conservation Trust for North Carolina and the land trust movement are one of the most effective forces in North Carolina conservation. The Conservation Trust offers statewide reach, economies of scale, legal and legislative expertise and effective land protection. In turn, local land trusts provide a local presence, community awareness, and grassroots effectiveness. Together, NC land trusts provide the opportunity to inspire future generations with the natural beauty that defines North Carolina. I’m proud to be part of the Conservation Trust and hope others will join me in supporting the land trust movement here in North Carolina.”
