City of Kannapolis Water Supply Protection Project

The Conservation Trust is assisting the LandTrust for Central North Carolina in purchasing 2,850 acres from the City of Kannapolis to protect land around streams that provide drinking water to the City. The property adjoins a Dept. of Agriculture research property. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission will own the land and the Clean Water Management Trust Fund will hold conservation agreement on buffers along the streams on the property. The property will continue to be leased to farmers.
