Easement Partner

The Conservation Trust also partners with local land trusts when land trusts need an easement partner to serve as a co-holder of such agreements or hold a land protection agreement on property they own to strengthen their commitment to a protected property. In cases where the Conservation Trust serves as the holder of a conservation agreement on land owned by a land trust, the Conservation Trust stewards and monitors the conservation values of that property, protecting it in perpetuity. In cases where the Conservation Trust serves as a co-holder with another land trust, the conservation values of protected properties are safeguarded to combine stewardship expertise and resources or in the event a land trust can no longer fulfill its stewardship obligations or ceases to exist. The Conservation Trust’s role as a land trust in these agreements strengthens the permanent protection of conservation lands.
