Blue Ridge Parkway Project

Asheville Watershed Easement
Buncombe County - 17,356 acres

Conservation easement donation from City of Asheville to the Conservation Trust in 1996. Easement encompasses nationally significant forest ecosystems and nearly 15 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway corridor.  Water quality protection is critical for this property, as it is the drinking water source for the City of Asheville. Elevations range from 3,500 ft to nearly 6,000 ft.  Magnificent panoramic views over the watershed from the Parkway at a number of overlooks, south from Mt. Mitchell to the Craggy Pinnacle and Gardens along Mileposts 335.3 to 370.3 on the left and right.
