Blue Ridge Parkway Project

Upper Linville Falls
Burke County - 356 acres

Purchased by the Conservation Trust in November of 2000. This land adjoins the Linville Falls portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area and includes two pristine streams that flow into the Linville River above the falls.  Forested and undisturbed, it is home to a large community of Carolina hemlock and white pine in elevations ranging from 3,400 to 3,600 feet.  Funding from the Clean Water Management Trust Fund was used to preserve the natural resources on this impressive tract of land. Visible from nine locations on the Parkway, this property was donated to the National Park Service in August of 2004.
