Blue Ridge Protection Partnership
The Conservation Trust is working with nine other mountain land trusts, The Nature Conservancy, the Trust for Public Land, and The Conservation Fund to launch an ambitious collective campaign to raise approximately $150 million to protect 50,000 acres of critical conservation lands in the Southern Blue Ridge. The initiative has been divided into two phases with the first phase goal of raising $1.5 million to prepare a regional conservation plan and a strategy for conducting a capital campaign that includes a second phase being the $150 million capital campaign itself. The Blue Ridge Mountains are thought to be only second to the Amazon in the amount of flora and fauna diversity. Population growth, development, and escalating land prices makes it vital to undertake a campaign to protect the natural resources of this area now.
